Alert! Popular Meat Shop Exposed for Selling Decomposed Goat and Sheep Meat
A shocking case of public health endangerment has come to light in Hyderabad’s Mangalhat area. Authorities, including the Task Force and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), raided a popular shop named ‘A to Z Sheep & Goat Offals’ and seized nearly 300kg of decomposed goat and sheep meat.
How the Scam Worked: The accused, Mohammed Afroz, allegedly purchased low-quality meat from various states at a cheap rate. The meat was stored in deep freezers and plastic tubs in a way that masked its putrid smell. It was then sold to unsuspecting customers as “fresh.” The joint operation on March 10 exposed this dangerous practice.
Legal Action: Afroz has been arrested and charged under sections 125, 271, and 318(2) of the BNS. Police officials emphasized that this meat was unfit for consumption and posed a severe health risk to the public.
Advisory to Citizens:
- Avoid purchasing meat or food from unauthorized or suspicious outlets.
- Prioritize buying only from licensed, clean, and reputable suppliers.
- Immediately report any unhygienic practices to the police or food safety authorities.
This incident serves as a grim reminder for consumers to be vigilant about the food they consume.
