Hardik Pandya Fined, Tim David Punished! High-Stakes MI vs RCB Match Ends in Controversy

The historic high-scoring thriller between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Wankhede Stadium has concluded with stiff penalties for two star players. MI skipper Hardik Pandya and RCB’s explosive batter Tim David have both been fined for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Sunday’s clash.

Hardik Pandya has been slapped with a ₹12 lakh fine as Mumbai Indians were found guilty of maintaining a slow over-rate. This marks MI’s first offense of the 2026 season under Article 2.22. On the other hand, Tim David faced action for a bizarre incident in the 18th over of the RCB innings. After hitting a six on a free-hit, David intentionally delayed returning the new ball to the umpire and began inspecting it himself despite repeated requests.

For obstructing the game’s flow, Tim David was fined 25% of his match fee. David admitted to the Level 1 offense and accepted the sanction. While Hardik faces a financial hit for now, a third such over-rate offense in the same season could lead to a one-match suspension for the captain.
