Hormuz Crisis Sparks Oil Price Hike! Will LPG Rates Surge Today? Check Latest Updates

Global crude oil prices have surged following the detention of 15 Indian oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Despite the growing uncertainty in international markets and fears of a domestic price hike, LPG cylinder rates for households remain unchanged as of April 14, 2026. This provides a much-needed sigh of relief for middle-class families amidst the escalating conflict.
In Kolkata, the domestic 14.2 kg cylinder continues to retail at ₹939. However, the commercial sector remains under pressure, with 19 kg cylinders priced at ₹2208.50 in the city. While household gas prices have been stable since a hike in March, commercial rates saw a significant jump at the beginning of April, affecting small businesses and restaurants.
