Global crude oil prices have surged following the detention of 15 Indian oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. In Kolkata, the domestic 14.2 kg cylinder continues to retail at ₹939. However, the commercial sector remains under pressure, with 19 kg cylinders priced at ₹2208.50 in the city. While household gas prices have been stable since a hike in March, commercial rates saw a significant jump at the beginning of April, affecting small businesses and restaurants.
