From Hazra to Alipore: Shah Leads Massive Roadshow for Suvendu; Battle for Mamata’s Bastion Heat Up!

The political atmosphere in Kolkata reached a fever pitch today as Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition, filed his nomination for the high-stakes Bhowanipore constituency against TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee. In a massive show of strength, Union Home Minister Amit Shah joined Adhikari for a grand roadshow that stretched from Hazra More to the Alipore Survey Building. Accompanied by BJP State President Samik Bhattacharya, the duo led a sea of supporters through the streets of South Kolkata.
Suvendu Adhikari is creating history this election by contesting from two key seats: Nandigram and Bhowanipore. Earlier, he filed his papers for Nandigram in the presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and former State President Dilip Ghosh. Amit Shah’s direct presence in Bhowanipore today underscores the BJP’s aggressive strategy to challenge the Chief Minister on her home turf. Along with Suvendu, three other BJP candidates from South Kolkata also submitted their nominations today. This high-voltage campaign signals an intense electoral battle ahead as the BJP aims to breach the TMC’s fortress in the 2026 Assembly polls.
