‘TMC Goons Running Amok in Ranaghat!’ Suvendu Adhikari Slams Attack on Poll Worker

The political temperature in West Bengal’s Nadia district reached a boiling point today as Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari alleged a brutal attack on a poll worker by Trinamool Congress (TMC) “goons” in Ranaghat. Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Adhikari slammed the ruling party for its alleged “despotism” and stated that anyone who dares to speak out against the TMC’s high-handedness is being systematically targeted.

According to the reports, a polling official on duty was reportedly assaulted by miscreants allegedly affiliated with the TMC. Reacting sharply, Suvendu claimed that the ruling party is resorting to violence out of a desperate fear of losing the upcoming elections. “The intimidation of poll workers is a direct threat to the democratic process. If the administration’s own staff are not safe, how can we expect the common voter to step out without fear?” Adhikari questioned in his post.

The BJP heavyweight further accused the local police of being “silent spectators” to the hooliganism. He alleged that the state administration is acting under the directives of the TMC to shield the culprits and suppress dissent. Adhikari has formally called upon the Election Commission to take cognizance of the Ranaghat incident and ensure the safety of all polling personnel by deploying additional central forces.

The incident has triggered widespread panic among government employees tasked with election duties in the region. While the TMC local leadership has dismissed the allegations as “baseless BJP propaganda,” the unrest in Ranaghat highlights the volatile security situation ahead of the polls. Suvendu’s aggressive stance on social media has now turned this into a major flashpoint between the two rival parties.
