A shocking case of administrative negligence has surfaced at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital following the death of Nimta resident Biswajit Samanta. Investigations into the tragedy revealed that the ground floor of the Trauma Care Centre lacks basic toilet facilities for patients, forcing them to undergo physical exertion in critical conditions.

The Fatal Struggle: Reportedly, Biswajit was forced to walk nearly 100 meters to reach a public toilet outside the centre, which required him to climb 30 stairs. Experts suggest that such physical strain for a trauma patient is highly dangerous and may have led to his untimely death. Other patients and staff have voiced their frustrations, stating that the only available toilet is for staff, and even that is constantly overcrowded. The lack of a simple washroom in an emergency care unit has sparked a massive controversy regarding patient safety and hospital management.
