“I’ll Contest from Nandigram if Party Asks!” Suvendu Adhikari Breaks Silence!

As the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections approach, the political spotlight is back on the state’s most famous battlefield—Nandigram. Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, has signaled his readiness to defend his seat. In a recent press conference, he stated, “If the party commands, I will contest from Nandigram again.”

The Sentiment of ‘Bhadrasan’ Calling Nandigram his “Bhadrasan” (ancestral seat of honor), Suvendu emphasized his deep-rooted connection with the constituency. After his historic victory over Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in 2021, Nandigram has become the cornerstone of his political identity. He noted that his work over the last five years as an MLA has strengthened his bond with the local residents.

Waiting for the High Command While Adhikari expressed his strong desire to remain in the Nandigram fray, he maintained that the final decision rests with the BJP central leadership. Political analysts believe that Suvendu’s statement is a strategic move to energize his base and re-establish his dominance in a region that remains the epicentre of Bengal’s political rivalry.
