Heinous and Cowardly!’ Abhishek Banerjee Slams Attack on Minister Shashi Panja’s House

Political tensions reached a boiling point in West Bengal as an attack was reported at the residence of State Minister Shashi Panja on the same day Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a massive rally in Kolkata. TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a “heinous act” aimed at intimidating the ruling party ahead of the 2026 Assembly Elections.

The Incident Details: According to local reports, a group of miscreants gathered outside Dr. Shashi Panja’s house in North Kolkata, shouting slogans and attempting to breach the main entrance. Witnesses claimed that some supporters were manhandled, and property was damaged during the ruckus. The attack took place while the state administration was largely focused on providing security for the PM’s high-profile visit.

Abhishek’s Sharp Rebuttal: Taking to the platform, Abhishek Banerjee lashed out at the opposition, stating, “This is a desperate attempt by the BJP to create unrest in Bengal. Attacking a woman minister’s residence shows their lack of respect for democracy and the people of this state. We will not take this lying down and will see the end of this goondaism.” He further urged the Election Commission to take immediate cognizance of the matter, given that the Model Code of Conduct is in place.

BJP’s Defense: The BJP has dismissed the allegations as “fictional and politically motivated.” Local BJP leaders suggested that the incident was a result of TMC’s internal factionalism and an attempt to divert attention from the Prime Minister’s successful rally. However, the incident has left the neighborhood in shock, with security being beefed up around the residences of key political figures as the state moves toward a crucial two-phase election starting April 23.
