Mysterious Fire Claims Life of Government Nurse in Cooch Behar; Husband Under Scrutiny

A chilling incident of a mysterious fire has left the Cooch Behar community in shock after a 35-year-old nurse, Chanda Roy, was found burnt to death in her rented home on Wednesday night. Roy, who worked at the MJN Medical College and Hospital, had reportedly returned from her night shift shortly before the fire broke out.

Her husband, Ranjit Roy, a driver, was also found with burn injuries and is currently receiving treatment under police watch. Local residents alleged that Ranjit attempted to flee the scene when the fire started but was stopped by neighbors who intervened. Initial police investigations suggest that a domestic dispute may have led to the tragic incident. Authorities are currently examining the forensic evidence to determine if the fire was accidental or a criminal act. The police have launched an extensive investigation into the husband’s role in the case.
