₹700 Crore OTT Offer Rejected! Why Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’ Producers Said No?

Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus Ramayana is setting new benchmarks even before its release. Recent reports suggest that producer Namit Malhotra has turned down a staggering ₹700 crore offer for the film’s OTT rights—the highest ever for any Indian film. Despite the historic bid, the makers seem unfazed and are reportedly holding out for an even bigger payday.
The real reason behind this rejection is the mammoth scale of the project. With a combined production budget of nearly ₹4,000 crore for both parts, the makers are eyeing a deal worth at least ₹1,000 crore from digital streaming giants. Namit Malhotra believes that once more content from the film is revealed, the bidding war will only intensify. Starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana, Ramayana is being positioned as a global cinematic event. The first part is scheduled for a grand release on Diwali 2026, and the team is confident that the digital value of this legacy project will eventually surpass all previous records in Indian cinema.
