Yogi’s Masterstroke: Chinese Manja Ban in UP! Death Caused by String to be Treated as Murder, Orders CM

In a decisive move to curb frequent fatalities, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has imposed a total ban on the use and sale of Chinese manja (synthetic kite string) across the state. Taking a zero-tolerance approach, the CM has directed that any death caused by these lethal strings will now be treated as ‘Murder,’ and cases will be registered against the culprits accordingly.

Tragedy in Lucknow Sparks Fury: The decision comes in the wake of a heart-wrenching incident in Lucknow on Wednesday, where a medical representative lost his life after his throat was slit by a stray kite string. With eight such tragic deaths reported in the past year, CM Yogi expressed deep anger and questioned officials on how the banned material was still infiltrating the market.

Strict Directives for Police:

  • Intense Raids: All district police chiefs have been ordered to launch immediate and rigorous search operations to seize stocks of Chinese manja.
  • Targeting the Network: The CM has mandated identifying the entire illegal supply chain—from manufacturers to retailers—and ensuring their immediate arrest.
  • High-Level Review: The state-wide crackdown will be reviewed at the highest administrative levels regularly to ensure there is no negligence.

The Uttar Pradesh government has sent a clear message: public safety is paramount, and those trading in these “strings of death” will face the harshest legal consequences.
