Yogi Govt’s Big Move: 6 New High-Tech Hostels for SC Students to be Built in UP

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has launched a major initiative to bolster the educational infrastructure for Scheduled Caste (SC) students across the state. Under the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY), the state social welfare department has commenced the construction and renovation of six state-of-the-art hostels. A total budget of ₹12.30 crore has been approved for the financial year 2025-26, with the first installment of ₹6.15 crore already disbursed to kickstart the work.
According to official reports released on Friday, March 27, 2026, three of these modern hostels will be constructed in Firozabad, while Jaunpur, Sultanpur, and Hathras will each get one hostel. These campuses are being designed as comprehensive “Learning Hubs” rather than mere residential spaces. They will feature furnished rooms, modern mess facilities, recreational zones, well-equipped libraries, and dedicated guard rooms for 24/7 security.
The move aims to provide high-quality, free accommodation to SC students hailing from remote and economically weaker backgrounds, ensuring they have a conducive environment for higher studies. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has previously emphasized that these facilities will be named after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to honor his contribution to social justice. By prioritizing inclusive education, the UP government is taking a firm step toward bridging the educational gap for marginalized communities and providing equal opportunities for all.
