In a heart-warming incident in Alappuzha, a Kerala RTC (KSRTC) bus set a remarkable example of passenger safety and social responsibility. Around midnight, a young woman alighted from a Kozhikode-Pathanamthitta superfast bus at a deserted, dimly lit spot in S.L. Puram. Sensing the potential danger of leaving her alone in the darkness, the driver Arun Kumar and conductor Sunil chose to intervene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safety prioritized over schedule<\/strong> Upon learning that the woman’s family had not yet arrived to pick her up, the driver made an unprecedented decision to shut off the engine. He announced that the bus would not move until her family members reached the spot. Surprisingly, not a single passenger complained about the delay; instead, they all collectively agreed to wait to ensure the woman\u2019s safety in the dead of night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Elephant Bus to Mother Bus<\/strong> The bus resumed its journey only after the family arrived in a vehicle. The incident came to light after journalist Jubin Jacob, who was traveling on the same bus, shared the story on social media. The KSRTC bus, traditionally called ‘Anavandi’ (Elephant Bus) in Kerala, is now being hailed as ‘Ammavandi’ (Mother Bus) for its protective role. This act of kindness underscores the deep-rooted values of communal care and security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
