This means that simply entering a PIN or a password will no longer suffice to complete a transaction; users will have to go through an additional layer of verification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new RBI guidelines specify that the second factor of authentication could be an OTP (One-Time Password) sent to a registered mobile number, biometric data (like fingerprint or face ID), or a hardware token. This move is designed to ensure that even if an unauthorized person gains access to a user&#8217;s PIN, they cannot withdraw funds without the second security credential. The rule will apply to all UPI transactions, net banking, and credit\/debit card payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Banking experts suggest that this &#8220;Double Protection&#8221; layer is crucial in the age of sophisticated phishing attacks and SIM-swapping frauds.
