A tragic incident of alleged medical negligence has rocked RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Biswajit Samant, a resident of Nimta admitted with breathing difficulties, died on the hospital premises after being forced to use an external “Pay & Use” toilet due to a lack of facilities inside the Trauma Care unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victim\u2019s son, Bishal Samant, claimed that despite his father being on oxygen support, they were directed by a staff member (allegedly a doctor) to take him to an outside toilet. The family was reportedly unaware of a functional lift, and no stretcher was provided. While climbing the stairs to the external latrine, Biswajit collapsed and died instantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While the hospital\u2019s upper floors have washrooms, patients on the ground floor are routinely sent outside.
