Santoshi Rajak, a temporary staffer in the hospital\u2019s USG department, was attacked on Saturday afternoon while returning home in a toto. The perpetrators, hiding behind a school wall, threw acid at her, leaving her left hand and leg severely burned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The incident is believed to be rooted in a long-standing land dispute. Family members revealed that Santoshi, whose late husband was a former town INTTUC president, had been facing persistent threats. Alarmingly, a threatening note was thrown at her in the hospital premises shortly before the attack, reading: \u201cDrop the case, or we will kill both mother and daughter within an hour.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Santoshi\u2019s mother, Ramia Bhandari, filed a formal complaint with the local police station on Sunday. While the victim is currently undergoing treatment at Balurghat Super Specialty Hospital, authorities have launched a massive manhunt for the assailants.
