“Women Will Protest If Insulted!” Mamata’s Stern Warning to Central Agencies at Murshidabad Rally

Stepping up her campaign for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee delivered a high-decibel speech at Burwan in Murshidabad on Wednesday. Addressing a massive crowd, she made a striking remark: “If anyone dares to touch or disrespect our women, they will protest. It is their right to defend their honor.” This statement is being seen as a direct rebuttal to the recent actions of central investigative agencies, which the TMC claims have been harassing women during late-night raids and searches.

During the rally, Mamata Banerjee accused the central government and the Election Commission of working in tandem to intimidate her supporters. She specifically reached out to the female electorate, highlighting that her government’s schemes like ‘Lakshmir Bhandar’ have empowered them. “They enter houses when the men are away and harass our mothers and sisters in the name of investigation. This will not be tolerated in Bengal,” she asserted. Her call for resistance is viewed as a strategic move to turn the “agency vs. local” narrative into a “women’s safety and dignity” issue.

The Chief Minister also touched upon the history of communal harmony in Murshidabad, warning against outside elements trying to create divisions before the polls starting April 9. By centering her speech on the protection of women, Mamata Banerjee aims to consolidate the female vote bank, which has been the cornerstone of her electoral success. As the battle for Nabanna intensifies, her stance at the Burwan rally signals that the TMC will use the “insult to women” narrative as a powerful counter-weapon against the opposition’s allegations of corruption and administrative failure.
