Having defeated Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram in 2021, Adhikari has cemented his place as the BJP’s primary force in Bengal. While the BJP traditionally fights elections under PM Modi’s leadership without naming a CM candidate, the party’s decision to let Suvendu contest from two seats—Nandigram and Bhawanipur—suggests a special status within the central leadership.
