West Bengal Weather Update: No Relief from Sweltering Heat? Check Today’s Forecast

West Bengal continues to grapple with intense humidity and scorching heat as the mercury shows no signs of dropping. Even as Thursday begins with a clear sky, the rising moisture levels in the air have made life difficult for commuters and residents alike. According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, while there might be localized cloud formation, significant rainfall remains elusive for the next 24 to 48 hours.

In South Bengal, districts including Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas, and Howrah are witnessing temperatures slightly above the seasonal average. The high humidity levels are causing excessive sweating, leading to extreme discomfort even during early morning hours. Weather experts suggest that while the monsoon withdrawal process or local disturbances might cause some scattered drizzles in isolated pockets, a widespread cooling effect is unlikely at this moment.

In contrast, North Bengal’s hilly terrains like Darjeeling and Kalimpong might experience light to moderate showers, providing a brief respite to the locals. However, the plains of North Bengal, including Malda and Dinajpur, will remain hot and dry. People are advised to stay hydrated and use umbrellas or hats while stepping out during the peak afternoon hours to avoid heat-related illnesses. The current weather pattern suggests that the “sticky heat” will persist until a significant low-pressure system develops over the Bay of Bengal.
