Following their T20 World Cup success, the BCCI has already kickstarted preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Aiming to break the long drought in the 50-over format since 2011, the board is leaving nothing to chance.

According to reports, the BCCI is actively discussing increasing the number of ODIs in upcoming bilateral series with various cricket boards. This initiative is designed to provide veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma with crucial match practice ahead of the quadrennial event. With a packed schedule including Afghanistan, England, Ireland, West Indies, and New Zealand, the team is set to play a significant number of ODIs.

Meanwhile, questions were raised regarding the team’s choices during the T20 World Cup, such as changing hotels and shifting practice timings, with some speculating about superstition. Addressing these claims, captain Suryakumar Yadav clarified that these were purely strategic decisions aimed at refreshing the team’s environment. Moving forward, the focus remains entirely on structured preparation and winning the 2027 ODI title.
