Unpublished Memoir of Ex-Army Chief Sparks Row! Delhi Police Files FIR Over Document Leak

The Delhi Police has registered an FIR regarding the unauthorized circulation of the unpublished memoir of former Army Chief General M.M. Naravane, titled ‘Four Stars of Destiny’. The move comes after reports surfaced that pre-print copies and PDF versions of the highly sensitive book were being circulated on various social media platforms and news forums without mandatory government clearance.
The Crux of the Controversy: The book chronicles General Naravane’s four-decade-long journey in the Indian Army, including critical insights into India’s most serious military standoff with China since 1962. As per protocols, any work by a former high-ranking military official requires prior vetting by authorities to ensure no confidential strategic information is compromised. The Delhi Police’s Special Cell is now investigating the extent of the breach and identifying the source behind this premature leak.
Political Firestorm in Parliament: The issue took a sharp political turn during the Budget Session when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi cited parts of a magazine report based on the unpublished book. This led to a massive showdown between the Treasury and Opposition benches. Earlier, images of Rahul Gandhi holding a purported copy of the manuscript in the Parliament complex had gone viral, leading to the suspension of eight MPs for disrupting House proceedings. The investigation is currently focused on whether the leak was intentional and if it poses any threat to national security.
