In a touching display of unconditional love and loyalty, a pet dog named ‘Phoni’ laid down his life to save his owner from a venomous cobra. The incident, reported from the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, has moved thousands online, highlighting the legendary bond between humans and their canine companions. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the lady of the house was busy in the backyard. Suddenly, a large monocled cobra emerged from the bushes and prepared to strike. Sensing the imminent danger, Phoni lunged at the snake before it could reach his mistress. A fierce battle ensued for nearly half an hour, with the brave dog repeatedly biting and shaking the reptile. Although Phoni managed to kill the cobra, he sustained several lethal bites during the struggle.
