Trauma Care Toilets Locked! Patient Collapses While Walking to Pay-and-Use Facility at RG Kar
March 23, 2026

Within days of a lift tragedy, R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital is once again under fire following the death of a 45-year-old patient. The deceased, Biswajit Samanta, was allegedly forced to walk to an external public toilet because the patient toilets in the Trauma Care unit were locked for renovation. He collapsed while walking and was later declared dead. Atin Ghosh, a member of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (Patient Welfare Committee), has slammed the hospital authorities, questioning why the patient wasn’t allowed to use the staff toilets if the patient units were non-functional. He termed the incident a “serious lapse” in medical ethics and has called for an immediate investigation.
