The industrial belt of West Burdwan witnessed a massive political surge today as the Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate for the Pandabeswar assembly seat, popularly referred to as the ‘Captain,’ officially filed his nomination. Preceding the formal submission at the Sub-Divisional Officer’s (SDO) office, the candidate offered prayers at a local temple and sought the virtual blessings of party supremo Mamata Banerjee. The nomination process was marked by a colossal roadshow that brought traffic to a standstill in parts of Asansol and Pandabeswar.

Speaking to the press after filing his papers, the TMC candidate emphasized that the developmental work undertaken by the Mamata Banerjee government would be the decisive factor in this election. “The people of Bengal are with Didi. Our victory is certain because our work speaks for itself,” he remarked confidently. Political analysts view this particular seat as a crucial battleground in the mining region, where the ‘Captain’s’ grassroots connectivity is expected to play a vital role. With the opposition also ramping up their campaign, the political temperature in West Burdwan has reached a fever pitch following this high-octane nomination rally.
