Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds; Check the Full Rain Forecast for Kolkata and North Bengal

After a rainy weekend, Bengal started the new week with clear skies, but the Alipore Meteorological Department has warned that this is just a brief lull. A new Western Disturbance is brewing, which is expected to trigger another round of widespread rain and thunderstorms across the state. A ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for Friday and Saturday, citing heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds.
While the rain will provide some relief from the Chaitra heat, the temperature is also expected to climb by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius over the next four days. In Kolkata, the sky will remain partly cloudy today with a maximum temperature of around 31°C. While the city might stay dry today, districts like South 24 Parganas, Medinipur, and Jhargram are likely to experience light to moderate showers.
In North Bengal, the rainy spell continues for Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Jalpaiguri. Though the lower districts of North Bengal may remain dry initially, the intensity of rain is predicted to increase significantly towards the weekend. Travelers and residents are advised to stay cautious due to the frequent lightning warnings issued by the weather office.
