Thinking of Buying an AC? Prices Set to Skyrocket from April 1 Amid Global Conflict!

As temperatures begin to soar across India, consumers planning to beat the heat with a new Air Conditioner (AC) are in for a shock. Starting April 1, 2026, several leading consumer electronics brands are set to implement a significant price hike. The primary reason behind this surge is the ongoing conflict in the Middle East involving Iran, Israel, and the US, which has destabilized global supply chains.
Why are Prices Rising? The war has caused a sharp spike in crude oil and energy prices, which in turn has driven up the cost of essential raw materials like copper, aluminum, and high-grade plastics used in AC manufacturing. Additionally, shipping and logistics costs have increased due to disrupted trade routes. Major players such as Voltas, Daikin, Blue Star, and LG have indicated that absorbing these rising input costs is no longer feasible, leading to a mandatory price revision of 5% to 15% across various models.
The Impact on Your Budget: Industry experts suggest that from April 1, the cost of a standard 1.5-ton 3-star inverter AC could increase by ₹2,000 to ₹5,000. New energy efficiency regulations taking effect in the new financial year are also contributing to higher production expenses. Manufacturers advise customers to make their purchases before the current inventory runs out, as the new stock arriving after March will carry the updated, more expensive price tags.
