In a disturbing incident highlighting the lack of safety for women, a young woman from Uttarakhand named Chiro shared her ordeal of being harassed by three men while she was on her way to a temple. The video, which has now gone viral on Instagram, captures the trio following her, making lewd gestures, and shouting obscene songs in broad daylight.

Chiro narrated that because of her distinct features (common to people from hill stations or Northeast India), the men assumed she was a foreigner or didn’t understand Hindi. “It seems like a girl walking alone is the rarest sight for some Indian men. They kept bothering me with disgusting facial expressions and loud music just because I look a bit different,” Chiro wrote in her emotional post.

The video shows the three men completely unbothered by the fact that they were being recorded, as they continued their hooliganism with smirks on their faces. Chiro clarified that she was smiling in the video only to handle the situation calmly without escalating the tension while she waited for her friends. She shared the footage to expose the daily reality faced by women, emphasizing that her goal was awareness, not viral fame.
