SIR Case: SC Orders Election Commission to Submit Details of 8,505 Officers by Tuesday Evening

The Supreme Court has issued a series of directives in the SIR case on Monday. The bench has ordered the Election Commission to provide data on 8,505 officers by Tuesday afternoon. The Chief Justice emphasized that no interference or obstruction in the SIR process will be tolerated and clarified that the ERO’s decision would be final in these matters.
Meanwhile, Justice Joymalya Bagchi criticized the Election Commission for its over-reliance on Artificial Intelligence (AI) during the hearing. Raising concerns about software limitations, he stated that automated notices are being sent without verifying ground realities, leading to public harassment. He pointed out that even people with common middle names like ‘Kumar’ are receiving notices due to technical glitches, urging the commission to fix these systemic flaws.
