“She Will Fight Alone and Win!” Akhilesh Yadav Throws Full Support Behind Mamata Banerjee

In a significant political development ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at her Kalighat residence on Friday. The meeting, which lasted for over an hour, signaled a strengthening of the regional front against the BJP. Stepping out of the meeting, Akhilesh sent a thunderous message to the national capital, stating, “Didi will fight alone and she will emerge victorious once again.”

Unwavering Support for Mamata: Praising Mamata Banerjee’s resilience, the former Uttar Pradesh CM remarked, “Mamata ji has the courage of a lioness. The BJP tried every trick in the book to defeat her in the last elections, but the people of Bengal stood by her. This time too, BJP will score a zero in Bengal. She doesn’t need anyone to lead her battle; she is capable of defeating the communal forces single-handedly.” This statement is seen as a major boost for the TMC, reinforcing Mamata’s image as the primary challenger to the saffron surge.

The Regional Powerhouse Strategy: The meeting between the two heavyweights focused on building a coordinated strategy for the upcoming state polls and the 2029 general elections. Akhilesh lashed out at the BJP for allegedly using central agencies like the CBI and ED to intimidate opposition leaders. “The more they try to suppress us, the stronger we will rise. The UP-Bengal combine will be the final nail in the coffin for the BJP’s divisive politics,” Akhilesh added.

Impact on 2026 Polls: Political analysts suggest that Akhilesh Yadav’s endorsement aims to consolidate the Hindi-speaking and migrant votes in West Bengal in favor of the TMC. By siding with Mamata, Akhilesh has positioned the Trinamool Congress as the sole guardian of regional interests. As the election fever grips Bengal, the ‘Kalighat Meet’ has effectively set the tone for a high-decibel campaign where regional identity meets national ambition.
