Shashi Tharoor’s Convoy Attacked in Kerala, Security Guard Thrashed in Malappuram!

In a shocking incident ahead of the Kerala Assembly elections, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s convoy was blocked and his security staff assaulted in the Malappuram district on Friday evening. The incident occurred near the Chellithode bridge in Thiruvalli while Tharoor was en route to an election rally for Congress leader AP Anil Kumar.

According to the police, a group of five individuals in two cars blocked the MP’s path. When Tharoor’s security guard requested them to move their vehicle due to the narrow road, the mob allegedly attacked him and the driver. An FIR has been registered at the Wandoor police station, and one person has been detained so far.

Confirming his safety, Tharoor took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank well-wishers. He stated, “I was untouched and my security guard is well. We carried on undaunted and concluded our programs as scheduled.” With Kerala set to vote on April 9, this incident has sparked concerns over the safety of high-profile leaders during the high-octane campaign.
