Ritu Tawde has been appointed as the Mayor, marking the end of a 25-year dominant reign by the undivided Shiv Sena. For decades, the BJP played a secondary role in the corporation, but with this regime change, the party now holds the absolute steering wheel of Mumbai’s administration.

This transition is expected to bring a massive shift in how India’s financial capital is managed. Previously, policy friction between the State Government and the BMC often led to delays in critical infrastructure projects.
