Saffron Surge in Kolkata! Amit Shah Arrives for High-Voltage Nomination Parade in Mamata’s Fortress

The political temperature in West Bengal has reached a boiling point as the 2026 Assembly Election’s second phase of nominations begins today. In a significant move, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will accompany BJP’s heavyweights, including Suvendu Adhikari (Bhowanipore), Swapan Dasgupta (Rashbehari), and Satarupa (Ballygunge), as they file their nominations. Shah, who arrived in Kolkata late Wednesday night, is set to kickstart a massive show of strength from Bhowanipore—the home turf of CM Mamata Banerjee.
The schedule begins at 11:30 AM at Hazra More, where Shah will address a gathering of party workers. This will be followed by a grand roadshow in an open-top vehicle heading toward the Alipore Survey Building. Around noon, Suvendu Adhikari is expected to formally submit his nomination papers in Shah’s presence. Political analysts view this high-profile participation as a direct challenge to the ruling TMC in one of the state’s most prestigious constituencies. Following the event, the Home Minister is scheduled to depart for New Delhi later this afternoon.
