The battle for Bhowanipore reached its peak today as BJP heavyweight Suvendu Adhikari filed his nomination in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Leading a massive ‘Vijay Sankalp’ roadshow from Hazra More to the Alipore Survey Building, the duo showcased a significant show of strength ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls.

A High-Octane Procession: Mounted on a massive tableau, Shah and Adhikari were accompanied by candidates Swapan Dasgupta and Satarupa. The streets were painted saffron as supporters showered rose petals and chanted slogans. However, the atmosphere turned electric when the rally passed through Kalighat. TMC workers countered with ‘Joy Bangla’ slogans, leading to a heated face-off between the two political camps. Despite the tension, the procession culminated at the nomination center, marking a historic day for the constituency.
