“Rule of Law is History in Bengal!” JP Nadda Tears into TMC in Rajya Sabha Over Governance Failure

In a high-voltage session of the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Leader of the House and BJP National President JP Nadda delivered a blistering critique of the West Bengal government. Addressing the House, Nadda asserted that the “Rule of Law” has completely vanished from the state, replaced by a climate of fear and lawlessness. His remarks sparked a heated exchange with Trinamool Congress (TMC) members, who vociferously protested his allegations.

Nadda stated, “West Bengal has become a textbook case of democratic erosion. The administration has surrendered its neutrality and is functioning as an extension of the ruling party’s cadre. Violence is being used as a tool to silence political dissent.” He further highlighted that the safety of women and the protection of basic human rights have reached an all-time low in the state, with the local police allegedly acting as silent spectators to crimes.

Nadda’s offensive comes at a crucial time as the political temperature in Bengal rises ahead of the upcoming elections. He argued that the state machinery’s failure to maintain law and order is a violation of the constitutional oath taken by the government. Political analysts view this coordinated attack by senior central leaders in both Houses as a strategy to corner the Mamata Banerjee-led government on administrative failures. As the treasury and opposition benches clashed, Nadda’s message was clear: the BJP is set to make “constitutional breakdown” a primary campaign plank in Bengal.
