RG Kar Scam: ‘Whistleblower’ Akhtar Ali to Surrender Today? Drama Unfolds at Alipur CBI Court

In a dramatic development in the RG Kar Hospital financial corruption case, former Deputy Superintendent Akhtar Ali is expected to surrender before the Alipur Special CBI Court today. Despite a non-bailable warrant (NBW) being issued against him last Friday, Ali has managed to remain out of CBI’s reach for the past four days.
Sources indicate that Ali plans to turn himself in on Tuesday. However, a technical hitch has emerged as the presiding judge of the relevant bench is reportedly on leave. His surrender now depends on whether the judge at CBI Court-1 grants him permission to proceed. On Monday, CBI sleuths waited for over six hours at the court premises and conducted raids at his residences in Howrah, but returned empty-handed.
Questions are being raised over the delay in the CBI’s execution of the arrest warrant. If the court refuses his surrender plea today due to the judge’s absence, will the central agency move in to arrest him right outside the courtroom? All eyes are now on Alipur Court as the legal tug-of-war continues in this high-profile case.
