The victim’s wife described the horrific moments: “The lift suddenly plunged downward and got stuck at a level with no exit. We screamed for help, but no one came.” In a desperate bid to escape, the lift suddenly jerked upward. While the mother and son fell into a gap, Arup got trapped and was dragged as the lift malfunctioned repeatedly. Moments later, his lifeless, blood-soaked body fell onto his wife’s lap. Police have arrested five individuals for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
