Panic at Brigade Parade Ground! Car Plunges into Drain During Driving Lesson

A routine driving lesson turned into a near-fatal accident at Kolkata’s iconic Brigade Parade Ground on Friday afternoon. A driver and his assistant had a close shave with death when their commercial cab careened off the road and nose-dived into a deep drainage canal within the Maidan area.
The incident occurred around 12:30 PM when the trainee driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The car crashed head-first into the ditch, leaving it completely stuck. Maidan Police quickly intervened, and an earth-mover (JCB) had to be deployed to pull the vehicle out of the drain. While both occupants escaped without major injuries, the accident has raised concerns about unauthorized driving practice in public spaces. Police are currently investigating the matter.
