Prevention of liver cirrhosis: Give up these 6 harmful habits, experts advise

New Delhi: Liver cirrhosis, a fatal disease of the liver, takes thousands of lives every year, but experts say that its risk can be reduced by adopting the right lifestyle. It is possible to keep the liver healthy by giving up six harmful habits. First of all, give preference to fiber-rich diet like broccoli, green vegetables and raw garlic by giving up oily food. Avoid canned and preservative-rich foods, as these harm the functioning of the liver.
Alcohol consumption is the main cause of liver cirrhosis, so give it up completely. Drinking 2-3 liters of water daily helps flush out toxins. Use of medicines like painkillers without doctor’s advice can also be dangerous. Finally, 20 minutes of exercise daily prevents fat accumulation in the liver. “Small changes can protect the liver from long-term damage,” said Delhi-based liver specialist Dr Rahul Sharma.
This advice raises awareness about liver health. Unhealthy habits in modern lifestyle are taking a toll on the liver. Experts believe that timely vigilance and a disciplined lifestyle can prevent not only cirrhosis but also other liver diseases. The message is clear: start taking care of your liver today.
