In a significant move to overhaul the healthcare landscape of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a series of massive upgrades for the Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences in Saifai, Etawah. Chaired by the CM, the Board of Governors meeting concluded with a visionary roadmap to transform Saifai into a premier medical hub for Western and Central UP.

Emergency Care on the Fast Track The highlight of the announcement is the establishment of a state-of-the-art 250-bed Level-1 Trauma Center. Recognizing the critical “Golden Hour” for road accident victims on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, the CM noted that the current 10-km distance from the expressway leads to vital time loss. The new facility, located closer to the transit point, will be operated by the university and aims to provide immediate surgical and life-saving interventions for high-speed collision victims.

Bridging the Rural-Urban Divide CM Yogi directed the setting up of a ‘Center for Rural Health’ to cater to the grassroots population. This center will leverage technology through Tele-OPDs and Virtual OPDs, ensuring that villagers have access to specialized medical advice without traveling long distances. The project also includes mobile health outreach services and a comprehensive digital data integration system to monitor public health trends.

A Holistic Approach to Healing Breaking traditional silos, the university will now feature an ‘Integrative Medicine Unit.’ This unit will offer a patient-centric approach by combining the strengths of Allopathy with traditional Ayush systems, including specialized clinics for Yoga and Wellness. To ensure community engagement, a dedicated ‘Community Broadcast Service’ will be launched to disseminate authentic health information and government schemes directly to the public. This holistic upgrade marks a new era in UP’s healthcare efficiency and accessibility.
