No Shortage of LPG or Fuel! Government Urges Citizens to Avoid Panic Booking Amid Supply Assurance

In a significant move to quell rising public anxiety, the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas issued a statement on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, assuring the nation that there is no shortage of LPG cylinders or essential fuels like petrol and diesel. The government has made a special request to citizens to desist from ‘panic booking,’ emphasizing that the country’s energy reserves are robust and well-maintained.
Reports of residents rushing to book multiple refills due to rumors of potential supply disruptions had led to a sudden surge in demand. Clarifying the situation, the ministry stated that the current domestic supply chain is operating at full capacity and all Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have been directed to ensure timely doorstep delivery. “There is absolutely no need to stockpile or book cylinders in advance out of fear,” the official statement read.
Strategic experts point out that while global geopolitical tensions have created volatility in international oil prices, the Indian government has secured long-term supply contracts to insulate the domestic market. The Ministry reiterated that artificially inflated demand through panic booking only creates logistical bottlenecks. Citizens are advised to follow their regular booking cycles, as there is a sufficient buffer to meet the nation’s requirements for the foreseeable future. The government continues to monitor the situation closely to prevent any black-marketing or artificial scarcity by local distributors.
