No IPL 2026 Broadcast in Bangladesh! Financial Disputes Replace Political Tensions as Key Reason

In a major setback for cricket fans in Bangladesh, the 2026 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will not be officially broadcast in the country. While the recent government transition in Bangladesh had sparked hope after hints of lifting the previous ban on the tournament, a commercial fallout between Indian media giant JioStar and local broadcaster TSports has sealed the fate of the telecast.
JioStar, the joint venture between Reliance and Disney, has formally terminated its sub-licensing agreement with TSports citing “continued failure and default in adhering to payment timelines.” This effectively means that even if the Bangladesh government grants a “No Objection Certificate,” there is currently no local broadcaster with the legal rights to air the matches. This financial deadlock has also affected the Women’s Premier League (WPL) broadcast, leaving millions of fans across the border with no legal way to stream their favorite T20 stars.
