Night Vigil at Nabanna! 90% Govt Employees Receive DA; Funds Disbursed Before April 1 Deadline

In a major administrative feat, the West Bengal government worked through the night on Tuesday to ensure that nearly 90% of state government employees and pensioners received their Dearness Allowance (DA) ahead of the new financial year. Following strict instructions from the Chief Minister’s Office, the Finance Department initiated a massive overnight operation at Nabanna to clear the backlog caused by recent server issues.
According to sources, officials at various treasuries across the state were seen working late into Tuesday night to process the salary and pension bills integrated with the revised DA components. By Wednesday morning, the majority of employees reported receiving credit alerts on their mobile phones. For the remaining 10% of staffers whose payments are still pending due to minor technical glitches, the administration has assured that the funds will reflect in their accounts by Wednesday afternoon.
This timely disbursement has brought significant relief to lakhs of government families, especially as it comes just before the implementation of new fiscal rules starting April 1. Pensioners, in particular, expressed their gratitude as the swift action ensured their financial security for the upcoming month. While the debate over pending DA arrears continues, this proactive move by Nabanna has provided a much-needed financial cushion for middle-class state employees at the start of the 2026-27 fiscal year.
