Naval Milestone: India Successfully Tests Indigenous ADC-150 Air-Droppable Container!
The Indian Navy has achieved a significant breakthrough in operational logistics with the successful flight testing of the indigenous ‘Air-Droppable Container’ (ADC-150). Developed jointly by the DRDO and the Indian Navy, the system was tested off the coast of Goa using the sophisticated P-8I maritime patrol aircraft. Four successful in-flight release trials were conducted between February 21 and March 1, 2026, ensuring the system’s reliability under extreme operational conditions.
The primary objective of the ADC-150 is to provide rapid logistical support to warships deployed in the high seas. With a payload capacity of up to 150 kg, the container can be dropped from aircraft to deliver life-saving medicines, critical components, and emergency stores to ships stationed far from the coastline. Following its initial tests in 2023 and subsequent certification in 2025, this final developmental trial marks a major leap in India’s ‘Atmanirbhar’ defense roadmap. This system is expected to be a game-changer for blue-water operations, ensuring sustained mission capability for the Indian Navy in remote maritime zones.
