Narayani Dham Echoes with Wedding Bells! 141 Couples Tie the Knot as CM Vishnu Deo Sai Blesses Them Virtually

In a heartwarming display of tradition and social welfare, 141 couples started their new journey together at a mass wedding ceremony held at Narayani Dham in Janjgir-Champa, Chhattisgarh. Organized under the ‘Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojna’, the event witnessed the couples taking their sacred vows on Tuesday. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai joined the celebrations virtually to bestow his blessings, wishing the newly-weds a prosperous and healthy life while reiterating the government’s commitment to the welfare of underprivileged families.
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Congress MLA Vyas Kashyap and District Panchayat President Satyalata Miri, who joined the wedding processions as ‘Baratis’. The atmosphere was electric with joy as family members were seen dancing enthusiastically to the rhythmic beats of traditional music. District Panchayat member Uma Rajendra Rathore added a musical touch to the event by singing celebratory songs for the couples. Beyond the rituals, the District Panchayat President administered a pledge to all the couples to advocate for girls’ education and fight against social evils like child marriage and female foeticide.
Anita Agrawal, Program Officer for the Women and Child Development Department, highlighted that the registration process this year was carried out with complete transparency. Strict verification of age and eligibility was conducted to ensure only deserving candidates were included in the scheme. Under this initiative, the state government provides financial assistance and essential household items to help the couples set up their new homes. Parents of the brides expressed their profound gratitude to CM Vishnu Deo Sai, stating that the scheme has been a boon for families struggling with wedding expenses.
