Name Missing From Voter List? Mamata Announces ‘Free Legal Aid’ For Affected Citizens!

In a major move to protect the voting rights of the citizens of West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced that the state government will provide ‘free legal assistance’ to those whose names have been unfairly removed from the voter lists. This unprecedented announcement comes amidst rising allegations of voter list manipulation in several districts of the state.
Addressing a public gathering, the Chief Minister urged the public not to panic over the ongoing voter list revision process. “We will provide free lawyers to those whose names have been struck off from the rolls. Our government is setting up a dedicated legal cell to ensure that no legitimate voter is disenfranchised. You don’t have to spend a single penny on legal fees; the state will bear the costs,” Mamata Banerjee declared.
The Chief Minister’s initiative is seen as a direct counter-strategy to the opposition’s alleged attempts to influence the electoral rolls. By providing state-sponsored lawyers at the block and subdivision levels, the TMC government aims to simplify the complex legal process of restoration of names. Experts suggest that this move is aimed at consolidating her voter base ahead of the upcoming elections, ensuring that the marginalized and less aware sections of society are not left out of the democratic process due to administrative errors or political conspiracies.
