“My Personal Revenge for 26/11”: Arjun Rampal Reveals How ‘Dhurandhar’ Helped Him Heal

For actor Arjun Rampal, the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks are not just a historical tragedy but a deeply personal trauma. The attacks occurred on his 36th birthday in 2008, while he was on his way to the Taj Mahal Hotel. Speaking at the Hello! Hall of Fame Awards on March 22, 2026, Rampal revealed that working in Aditya Dhar’s latest blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ felt like a form of personal retribution. Rampal, who portrays the antagonist Major Iqbal (an ISI handler), used his real-life angst to play the mastermind behind the strikes. He shared that witnessing the horrors firsthand made him physically ill back then, but channeling that anger into his performance allowed him to finally seek a symbolic “revenge” for the city he loves.
