Ahead of the 2026 Assembly Elections, the war of words between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reached a boiling point. Reacting to Amit Shah’s announcement of spending more time in West Bengal to oversee the election campaign, Mamata Banerjee mocked the move, stating that his stay would only lead to a further decline in BJP’s vote share.

“The more he stays here, the more votes BJP will lose,” Mamata asserted during a public rally. She labeled the central leaders as “migratory birds” who visit Bengal only during elections without understanding its soul. The TMC supremo claimed that Amit Shah’s frequent visits remind people of the ‘outsider’ influence, which eventually helps TMC consolidate its support base. As the 2026 battle lines are drawn, Mamata’s aggressive stance signals that the ‘Insider vs Outsider’ debate will once again be a key theme in the upcoming polls.
