Modi Wave Hits Bhawanipur! PM Likely to Hold Mega Roadshow Between April 24-27 to Back Suvendu’s Challenge

The battle for the prestigious Bhawanipur seat has reached a fever pitch as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch a massive campaign blitz in South Kolkata. Following the Election Commission’s announcement of a two-phase poll (April 23 and April 29), the BJP is pulling out all stops to breach Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s stronghold. According to party sources, the Prime Minister is expected to visit West Bengal between April 24 and 27, shortly after the first phase of polling, focusing primarily on the Bhawanipur constituency.
Suvendu’s Strategy and Modi’s Presence: Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari has been vocal about replicating his “Nandigram miracle” in Bhawanipur. To bolster this claim, he has personally coordinated with the central leadership for a high-impact intervention. After the thunderous “Brigade Rally” on March 14, where PM Modi coined the slogan “Paltano Darkar” (Change is Needed), the party is now planning a historic roadshow spanning several kilometers across the heart of South Kolkata to sway the urban electorate.
BJP’s Campaign Themes: During his visit, PM Modi is expected to emphasize issues like industrial stagnation, systemic corruption, and the alleged neglect of the Bengali Hindu community. The BJP aims to consolidate its votes in the multi-ethnic pocket of Bhawanipur, leveraging the Prime Minister’s personal charisma to attract young and middle-class voters who are seeking an alternative to the 15-year TMC rule.
TMC’s Counter-Strategy: The Trinamool Congress has remained defiant, dismissing the PM’s visit as “seasonal tourism.” CM Mamata Banerjee has already shifted her focus to Bhawanipur, holding organizational meetings to ensure her fortress remains impenetrable. While TMC relies on its “Ma-Mati-Manush” connect and social welfare schemes, political analysts believe that a direct intervention by the Prime Minister in the CM’s own constituency could force a major shift in the voting pattern of the “silent majority.”
