Following the recent unprecedented unrest in Kaliachak, the police administration has taken decisive action by arresting 35 individuals involved in the harassment of judicial officers. The Inspector General (IG) of North Bengal confirmed the arrests, stating that the incident was not a spontaneous outburst but a “pre-planned and organized” attempt to destabilize law and order.

The police have highlighted the role of Mofakkarul Islam, who was allegedly the primary provocateur behind the mob’s actions. His inflammatory speeches, coupled with coordinated messages on social media, are believed to have incited the crowd to surround the judges’ vehicles. Authorities are currently interrogating the 35 detainees to uncover the broader network behind the conspiracy. In the wake of these arrests, security has been bolstered across the region, and the administration has launched a strict monitoring cell to track and penalize any further provocative content on digital platforms.
