Mamata Ends 5-Day Sit-in Protest! Acts on Abhishek’s Request After Claiming Victory in Court

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee concluded her high-profile 5-day sit-in protest at Red Road on Tuesday following a request from TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Abhishek urged the CM to shift the focus from the dharna to the upcoming electoral battle, citing the favorable observations made by the Supreme Court in the SIR (Voter List) case as a major strategic victory for the party.

An energized Mamata Banerjee declared from the stage, “Our movement has forced Gyanesh Kumar to retreat. We have emerged victorious in the temple of justice (Court).” She asserted that the “conspiracy” to target Bengal through central agencies and election oversight had been foiled. Abhishek Banerjee emphasized that the goals of the protest were achieved, and the cadre must now take this momentum to every booth. The withdrawal of the dharna marks the beginning of TMC’s full-scale campaign phase, as the state prepares for the 2026 Lok Sabha elections.
